Learning Based Curriculum
learning begins at birth
With our youngest age groups starting at just six weeks of age, Blessed Sacrament Academy Child Development Center believes that learning is crucial at every age and stage of development. Our infant and toddler room teachers offer children loving care, as well as sensory stimulation through exposure to music, colors, counting, and social interaction.
preparing for kindergarten
Early education includes preparing for Kindergarten, by introducing a more structured learning curriculum in a classroom-style setting. Students will learn sight word recognition, phonetic recognition, letter and number identification, simple math memorization, and additional enrichment through music, art, and other creative lessons.
sensory garden and outdoor exploration
Sensory play and outdoor exploration are crucial to developing curiosity and exploration in young minds. Our new Sensory Garden, coming in 2020, will give students the opportunity to go outside and connect with nature. They will learn about plants, insects, and animals as they marvel at the beautiful sights, sounds, smells, and textures in the garden.
music and art enrichment
Music and art are both important parts of early education. They are shown to help with memorization and visualization, language and reading skills, and will inspire academic achievement through the years, all while boosting creativity in a fun and social environment.
Our teachers and staff engage with the children regularly by lifting their voices together in song, and inspiring young artists to create masterpieces to both take home, and to decorate the walls of their classrooms.
fitness and nutrition: healthy bodies and healthy minds
Young children are FULL of energy - and channeling that energy into structured physical play and activity is a vital part of our day. Children have multiple opportunities each day to wiggle, jump, skip, and run to their heart’s delight. We are excited to announce that our large playground area will be undergoing a renovation in 2020, giving us even more things to do while playing outside!
The BSA Child Development Center is a Texas Rising Star certified childcare provider, and as of this year we are also preparing to receive NAEYC Accreditation. This means that we have high standards when it comes to providing care for your children, and that includes high standards for nutrition. With help from a nutritionist from the Early Head Start program, we make sure that every meal and snack served to our kids is nutritious and balanced, with whole grains, fresh fruit, and plenty of protein.
