Reading to Your Child

Reading bedtime stories, beginning even when your child is a baby, helps build all-important bonds and helps ultimately build the child’s vocabulary and a love of reading, according to PBS Kids, an online learning resource for children of all ages. As you read aloud, encourage your child to try to form words, too. That’s the beginning of what will become a growing vocabulary. If your infant or toddler has older brothers or sisters, encourage them to use crayons and paper to make homemade books to read to their younger sibling. Reading can be family fun!
