Rhyme Time for Toddlers
Simple children’s rhymes help build toddlers’ language skills. Young children learn about words that sound alike, and they develop social skills by learning to repeat rhymes with you. Toddlers learn by repetition, so recite your favorite children’s rhymes often with your toddler.
Teach your child about inflection when you sing songs with rhyming words. Change your tone or volume, along with facial expressions, as your child learns to sing along with you. If you can’t remember the words to an old children’s rhyme, ask on older child, your friends or relatives for help. Learning is fun when it’s a family affair.
